Julia (Tiffany Howcroft) quite simply wants to host the perfect
Halloween party ... but when all guests but Melissa (Sophia Cacciola) are
fashionably late, she gets a bit drunk rather on the early side. Finally,
David (Michael Oberther) shows up and brings a Ouija-board, just for
entertainment. That freaks Julia out quite a bit, but she agrees to join
the others anyhow - and is totally scared shitless when the board
announces David will die soon. Of course, her panic is very probably
mainly caused by all the alcohol she has had - but it's totally justified
when a masked killer slaughters David before her and Melissa's very eyes!
And the night is still young ... Made for the Boston Indie
Mafia's 2015 Wicked Film Challenge, Planchette is
actually a pretty entertaining horror miniature that in equal part goes
for giggles and shocks, but without the Scream-like post-modern,
über-self ironic approach to it, instead deriving everything from the
situation (and its representation) as such and some fine performances. Genre
fans are likely to find quite a few things to like about this one ... as
are horror-phobes actually, as this one transcends genre limitations, and
is totally worth a watch!
