Lovely young Jaime (Kavita Jariwala) has always seen herself as a guy's
girl, meaning she just gets along better with guys than with girls, and
thus over the years has accumulated numerous male friends - all nothing
more than friends, really, as she's already in a long-term relationship
with Patrick (Michael Dahlgren) - until of course Patrick calls for a
relationship break, something she drunkenly posts about on social media.
And the next day all her male friends, from her neighbour (James Redfern)
to her apartment building's doorman (Brett Eidman) to her regular cabbie
(Wilson Conkrwright) to the barista at the café she usually goest to
(Mike Drosos) to the receptionist at work (Jorge Lucas) to her boss
(Patrick Collins) confess their undying love to her - something she really
cannot cope with, also because she loves none of them. The one who
spares her a confession of undying love is her friend Ted (Justin Clark),
who gives her a clue though as to what's happening, that she's considered
herself a guy's girl for so long, she has forgotten all about her being
desirable to men. Jaime thinks Ted's talking rubbish - until she meets
Sandy (Katie Moldowney), Ted's girlfriend, a girl who has been around the
block a few times and has gotten very blunt for it, and who at first Jaime
finds no connection with ... but then Sandy helps her out of a really
embarrassing situation with Patrick and his new girlfriend Tracy
(Gabrielle Filloux), whom he has apparently cheated on Jaime with, and
Jaime and Sandy become fast friends. With Sandy having her back, Jaime
manages to sort out her messes and everything seems to go nicely - until
Ted proposes to Sandy and they start preparing their wedding. And feeling
left out, Jaime gets back together with Patrick of all people - to soon
find out she feels left out of that relationship even more ... Now
what really makes this film is the two leads Kavita Jariwala and Katie
Moldowney, who couldn't be more different from one another but have a
great chemistry throughout and thus complement each other incredibly well
- and of course it doesn't hurt at all that they're supported by a very
solid ensemble cast. But that's not by any means putting down the other
merits of the movie, as it's based on a clever script that's as thoughtful
as it's lightfooted, and the direction very wisely downplays things, never
falling prey to fake sentimentalities or artificially exaggerated
feelings, helping to make this a very pleasurable and entertaining watch.
