John McCafferty hosts a gameshow in which he executes deathrow convicts live on TV, but also has
them play stupid games. Robyn Blythe is his greatest critic, on behalf
of moral reasons - inevitably they fall in love, of course. And then
there's Beano, hitmaln for the Mafia with a contract on McCafferty for
killing a Mafiaboss in one of his shows. Of course, everything still
somes to a happy ending, and McCafferty even decides to quit his job
as executioner/gameshow host.
The concept of a deathrow gameshow would be great for a social satire, and
this movie certainly has its moments - but more often than not chooses broad
comedy over subtlety and throwing in a rather pointless love story, utterly
robbing the film to ever reach its full potential ... |
