So what do we know about Canada? It's known for its wide open spaces,
impressive landscapes, its abundance of wildlife, especially beavers, its
invariably friendly and thus always smiling people, and of course, its
mounties ... Oh... Canada is not a short to be taken
seriously at all, even if it's based on travelogues of circa the
1950s, but of course the facts stated are soon blown out of proportion, at
times quite literally via exploding heads. And that's part of what makes
this film so funny, it clearly leans into the overly wholesome imagery of
old, then goes completely over the top, sometimes by means of violence,
other times by means of surrealism, absurdism and whatnot, and that most
of this happens during the singing of the Canadian national anthem makes
this only all the more poignant. So in all, nothing short of utterly
hilarious.
