Back when she was still a baby, Ebba (Kate Ly Johnston) had been
abandoned by her mother (Madalena Moray) in the woods surrounding Los
Angeles. That was 17 years ago, and having been raised by the wolves, Ebba
has since learned to defend herself, and nowadays she roams the LA area
half naked, defending her territory against any and all intruders, and
often savagely so - not out of any ill will though, just out of instinct.
So many self-important members of the LA community have lost their lives
trespassing into "her" woods, enough for Ebba to become an urban
legend. Which in turn attracts big game hunter and cryptozoologist Nigel
B. Shearing (Jared Masters), who's tasked by his employer to bring her
back, dead or alive. Thing is, Nigel's not really good at hunting, let
alone at tracking or surviving in the wild, sp pf all the people in the
area, he's the one who fails to come across Ebba for the longest of times.
Thing is, should he actually find her, does he even know how to handle
her?
Clearly modelled after and at the same time parodying jungle
girl movies, especially from the 1970s and 80s that often featured their
fair share of gore and sleaze (think Emanuelle
and the Last Cannibals or Diamonds
of the Kilimanjaro here), Feral Female is actually pretty
hilarious when it crosses genre tropes with clichés about the LA
lifestyle and presents us with an especially inept macho hero to top it
off. Sure, not all the humour is high brow or even hits its mark, but when
it does, it does with a vengeance, and frankly, as a party movie this one
ought to work like a charmdue to its rather loveable silliness. Well worth
a look, best enjoyed with a few beers on the side.
