Your upcoming Zombies of the Living Dead - in a few words, what is it about?

It is about zombies, relationships, love, action, blood, gore, and more!

How would you describe your movie's approach to the zombie genre, also in comparison to the many other zombie movies out there, including your own Wisconsin Project X? And what will the zombies in your movie be like?

The approach to this type of genre will be pure fun and for the love of these kinds of movies. It will be a very huge step up from my last zombie picture, Wisconsin Project X, for sure. This film has a great cast and I'm not in the starring role this time. Josh Meny is the star of the show as Police Officer Sid Jensen. The zombies like their cousins from Wisconsin Project X, don't die easily. You can't just shoot them in the head; Total dismemberment is needed and another little twist has to be done to finish them off. These zombies are more like the Return of Living Dead-zombies.

Your sources of inspiration when dreaming up Zombies of the Living Dead?

Evil Dead II, Return of the Living Dead, Zombieland, Planet Terror, Wisconsin Project X, and my silly movie Zombie SpooF.

The zombie genre suggests quite a bit of gore almost by definition - so how do you go about your gore effects and the like?

Spew!!! Lots of what I call "Spew". Which is a concoction of chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, grape jelly, and strawberry jelly. With the occasional coffee grounds. And a lot of practical special effects. I've made a ripped in half body, eyeballs, heads, masks, prosthetics effects, and some C.G.I. practical hybrid effects to enhance the special effects. We have been getting very messy and having so much fun!

You're usually very inventive in making your locations look bigger than they are - so what can you tell us about your locations this time around?

We are using what we have this time around. So, there may be some digital matte shots here and there. But, not much this time around.  We have been shooting nights and have to light it to look like daytime. We are proud of that. You can see pictures in the Car scenes on facebook of that. You can see we used old projector screens to bounce light and reflect it. They work perfect to create a daytime effect during night shoots.

Do talk about the look and feel of your movie for a bit!

I'm going for a brighter and more action packed tone for this movie. With tons of blood and gore! My last zombie movie was visually dark but bright in tone. This will be bright visually and in tone. There is a love story involved, too.

What can you tell us about your cast, and why exactly these people?

My cast is awesome! And why them, well, they are perfect for the roles. And, they did great in Terror Vortex, too. Josh Meny brings a real sincerity depth to his character, Johanna Ciampa fills her character with a depth and realism as Mary the love interest to the Sid character, Jesse Head as Sid's father Ted brings tenderness and warmth, Cheyenne Adamson portrays Cisco, Sid's friend with tons of depth and realism and true emotion. Tyler Wittenberg rocks by bringing a sincerity and humor to his character along side his brother Edmund Wittenberg playing the strong and conscious soul tone to his character. The whole cast rocks! I play Cisco's buddy Jimmy and a lot of the zombies in the film ha ha. Seriously though, the cast rocks on this picture for sure!

As far as I know, the film's still in production. So how far along is it, and any idea when it might be released onto the general public yet (and I do realize it's waaay too early to ask)?

The plan is to wrap shooting this year and have a release later in 2014 sometime. That is the plan for now.

Any future projects beyond Zombies of the Living Dead you'd like to talk about?

Sure, I'm always planning ahead. We plan to shoot a remake of my movie Metal Rebound, a futuristic cyborg movie, and Valgard, written by Tyler Wittenberg, which is a medieval movie.
