It wasn't too long ago that it seemed indie filmmaker Jake Taylor
(Nathan Yonder) had it all, a solid reputation, a film that did well with
the critics, a bright future ... but at the same time not too bright a
present, as despite all the acclaim, all the promises for financing of his
next movie didn't yet bring in any money. So out of necessity, Jake
drifted into softcore porn, at first even with the approval of his
fiancée. Things got sticky when he started to enjoy working in sex
movies, and eventually he took the plunge and went hardcore, enjoying all
the sex that came with it too much to realize he has painted himself into
a corner ... Now true, the story that Walk of Fame is
telling is pretty much a cliché, to which the film has little to add on a
narrative level. It's however the way filmmaker Christopher L. Golon has
chosen to tell his tale that makes this short so fascinating, as it goes
for an online narrator (Les Mahoney) telling the story, with Jake in many
scenes hanging out in the background, interspersed with suggestive (if by
no means explicit) scenes of Jake's downward spiral, represented by him
with two girls (Mallory Smart, Allison Klozynski) in underwear fooling
around in a motel room. And while this might not sound like much, it gives
the movie an almost otherworldly feel and makes it a very engaging watch
for sure.
