After they've recently shot a horror film together, director Matías
(Guillermo Berthold) invites key cast and crew (Vanesa González, Federico
Bal, Christian Sancho, Santiago Mararinos, Sofía Del Tuffo, Francisco
González Gil) over to his rather vast place to watch the first cut. The
screening soon turns weird though when the film doesn't exactly follow
what they've shot, and some of cast and crew suspect a secret re-shoot -
until events on screen turn weird when the movie's killer turns on cast
and crew for real on film, meaning they see themselves suddenly fight for
their life, something that definitely never has happened like this. The
secret behind this is Matías has fed the movie into a virtual reality
machine that altered the film. Only, all injuries our heroes suffer on
screen they also suffer in real life, meaning suddenly they fight for
their lives on two levels of reality - with no idea how to survive even in
one ... Ok, so the premise of this movie is very
far-fetched, so it takes quite a bit of suspension of disbelief to make it
work. But that said, if you can get into the film's rather crazy basic
story, you're in for a lot of good, as not only is this a well-made horror
thriller made by an obviously genre-savvy director, the play with two
levels of reality also lends the film an extra layer of suspense and gives
it depth beyond being a mere slasher movie. And a very competent cast
keeps things grounded enough amidst all the craziness, to make this a
perhaps not very believable but very tense piece of horror cinema.
