Jenny (Eleanor Lambert) has left her hometown years ago, but now that
her estranged twin brother Victor (Sebastian Bacon) has died in a car
accident, she returns - but is met with open hostility from her mother
(Jeannine Thompson), who figurs she should have been more protective of
her brother since she's a few minutes older. However, Jenny's aunt Joan
(Claudia Black) helps her to get acquainted with all things Victor. And
soon Jenny finds out about his life as an artist, calling himself Gonzo,
and she meets Victor's gallerist and girlfriend Tanja (Paige Kendrick),
and his best friend, rapper Kash (Xxavier Polk) - and she learns that
Victor might not have actually been the one who steered the car into its
lethal crash, and now she sees it her duty to right a wrong to pay back
for having more or less abandoned her brother back when ... A
very interesting film that's in equal parts character piece and thriller
and that tells its story in jigsaw puzzle fashion, with many of the pieces
only making proper sense once the puzzle's completed, and the approach
works very fine here as the film really manages to keep narrative tension
up throughout and goes for atmosphere rather than blind spectacle. And a
very competent cast manages to carry the film rather beautifully, making
this a fascinating watch.
