Tom (Sean O'Shea) is pretty much your typical beach pervert, making
lewd comments about every pretty girl who passes by while she's still in
earshot without being in the least bit discouraged by the massive amount
of rejection he gets, much to the embarrassment of his best friend (David
Burkhardt), who tries to keep him in line with the least bit of success -
and it all culminates in the two of them having to make a hasty escape to
the next sideshow, where they see a hypnotist (Sivan Gordon-Buxbaum) and a
sword swallower (Adriana Jones), performing all sorts of crazy tricks. And
despite Tom's lewd comments directed at them, the two women take him home
- and it doesn't occur to Tom they might do so only for their own evil
ends ... Basically, The Sword Swallower is a nice, in
the best sense of the word old-fashioned morality tale in the vein of Tales
from the Crypt or similar formats, a tale that twists and
turns and delivers its message with ironic undercurrents and a hefty dose
of the macabre - and believe me, the ending really packs a punch. A
pretty cool watch, really.
