As per usual, Jason (Timothy J. Cox) comes to visit his widowed dad Ben
(George R. Hildebrand) this Sunday for a snack and a good talk about this
and that, from classical music to ads about erectile disfunctions ... and
then rather casually Ben tells Jason he has started to see a prostitute.
Now Jason could hardly be more shocked, even when his father explains it
isn't for sex but for companionship. It's only when Ben explains how much
he misses his wife - Jason's mother - that it dawns upon him what his dad
is actually in need for and why a prostitute might be the perfect person
to provide that ... A very heart-felt little movie that has a
very "real" feel to it thanks to its slice-of-life approach, its
easy flow and total absence of exaggerated emotions or any kind of
spectacle. Instead, this is an actors' movie, and both Hildebrand and Cox
bring just the right subtlety to their roles to make their characters and
the whole situation relatable and their conflict palpable - but in a
realistic way. And as easy-going as this movie might be, it also provides
food for thought - and is definitely a worthwhile watch.
