It should have been nothing but a day of routine construction work for
two friends when they find that one of their co-workers has gone
completely mad, and homicidally so, and nothing short of bodily
dismemberment seems to be able to stop him - thing is, he has read in the
Necronomicon and worn a mystical mask, so that did something to him.
Fortunately, our heroes manage to cut him to pieces, but then two friends
of the possessed deceased arrive on the scene, try on his mask, and
immediately turn lethal. Our heroes manage to escape but are forced to
leave their colleagues dismembered body behind, so the two newcomers bury
the body and bring the baddie back to life - and the trio then go after
our heroes ... Now first and foremost, this was a film shot
during the early shot-on-video era, so don't expect any technical
greatness or cinematic brilliance there, this could simply not be achieved
with the (affordable) equipment from back in the day. Also, as with many
SOV films from its day, this was made on a miniscule budget and based on a
script that was written by genre fans rather than well-versed writers. But
while this movie has all this shortcomings pretty much immanent for movies
from its ilk, the enthusiasm of the filmmakers when making this also
shines through, and despite its modest means the film actually pulls off
some pretty impressive action and gore sequences which keep the movie
floating quite nicely. True, only SOV horror fans will be able to truly
appreciate the film's inherent quality, but for them it's pretty much a
must-see.
