Billy (Buster Crabbe) and Fuzzy (Al St. John) accompany Doc's (Ed
Cassidy) medicine show on its tour, bassically because they have both
fallen in love with Doc's daughter Linda (Patricia Knox). And soon it
seems Doc does need all the (preferably armed) company he can get, because
there are three baddies (Charles King, Kermit Maynard, John L. Cason) are
hot on Doc's trail, because for the past 5 years, Doc has been carrying a
map leading to gold worth a fortune from a robbery he obtained from a
dying robber. Why the Doc hasn't turned the map over to the authorities or
dug it up for himself never becomes clear. Anyways, Billy and Fuzzy are
quite capable of fighting off the small-fry baddies, but Doc's son Don
(John L. Buster) figures the gold might just as well be rightfully his,
steals the map from his father and goes digging ... only to fall into the
hands of the baddies. Of course, Billy and Fuzzy save the day ... even if
they have to let the baddies go scot-free, because legally they haven't
done anything wrong yet ... Pretty much a routine entry into
the Billy Carson-series: The story isn't great but moves
along at a steady pace, Fuzzy's comedy isn't always that well integrated
but at least it's pretty funny, Buster Crabbe once again proves himself to
be one of the better range heroes of his time, even if he's not given much
to work with here, and at least the hero-sidekick chemistry is just right
in this one. There are definitely better films in the series - but also
way worse ...
