Five doctors from India, having found residence in America, and now
working on the forefront in the fight against Covid-19 - and this is their
story. And it's not so much their medical achievements that are in the
foreground here, but rather their difficulties to fight the virus in one
part of the world while knowing their parents back in India whom they
won't be able to visit for months, with their contacts reduced to
occasional phone and video calls - and there's worries on both sides
whether the other side might catch the virus ... which one of the doctors
portrayed does, despite all protections - she got through though, with a
resulting level of immunity ... Now I'm sure this far into the
pandemic many of us are understandably tired of hearing about the Corona
virus, and probably even more so the controversy it seems to have caused -
and that's exactly why this documentary seems to come like a fresh breath,
because it doesn't try to fan the fire but instead tells a positive story
by shining a spotlight on the few of all of humankind that are the actual
heroes in the whole story, the doctors and other medical workers, and it
tells their stories not in a sensationalistic manner full of spectacle,
but brings a human component to it, a human component that's often lost
when discussing statistic and possible or factual lockdowns. And an
empathetic directorial effort really helps to bring this movie to life and
make it one of the most subtly touching documents coming out of our time
and age.
