King Macbeth (Christopher Lee-Power) and Seyton (Mike Bell) are deep in
discussion over matters of state when they hear a scream. Seyton goes
check, and when he returns, he announces Lady Macbeth's death - upon which
the king's demeanour changes, as if he was beginning to lose it ... An
excerpt from William Shakespeare's Macbeth, with no context
given - for those interested, it's act 5, scene 5 -, and whatever you need
of the bigger picture, you better cull from memory ... but that's not
something that deters the impact of this short at all, as it goes for the
story arc of this scene alone, a mini drama within the play that sees a
major shift in Macbeth's character - and really watching this scene
without context only shows how brilliantly it's written in itself. That
said though, the actors also do a brilliant job to bring it to life, and
director Shaun Daly really makes ghood use of the church settings, giving
the short a cinematic rather than stagey look, making this well worth a
watch.
