It has probably started much earlier, but with Detective Jensen (Stuart
Wahlin) it starts with Barney (Lambert Maddy), a man who has gone missing
six days ago when driving home from bowling, and then found himself in
Dulce, New Mexico, that's not only quite a bit off from his way home, he
also has no idea how he got there. He just remembers a bright light that
has come out of the sky, but that's not much to go on. Over the next
days, Jensen is confronted with more and more missing person cases, and
weirdly enough all are tied to Dulce, a rather insignificant village
really if it wasn't for a secret gouvernment facility ... Intended
to be the first in a trio of movies on the subject, this short does a
great job setting up its main plot by giving the audience just enough
facts and mystery to make things interesting. But that the film actually
feels like more than a first act is thanks to a very engaging direction
that mixes some impressive visuals with suggestive sequences and some very
decent effects work, all thing that promise as much for future entries as
deliver for the one at hand. In all, a pretty cool piece of genre cinema.
