Gideon (Dakota Ray), himself a slowly dying alcoholic, has volunteered
to take care of his terminally ill grandfather (Sebastian Oake) - not out
of respect or good will or whatever, but to inherit his estate once
grandfather's gone, and that way go out himself in luxury. Only, the idea
in detail isn't as great as he's made it out to be, as the decay of
grandpa's house soon gets to Gideon while the old man just refuses to die
on his own, which eventually leads to Gideon taking drastic measures ... A
rather unique piece of horror, even in filmmaker Dakota Ray's rather
eccentric filmography, as it's a very visual work, relying very little on
(mostly functional) dialogue and more on its off-beat imagery that
combines unusual camera angles with macabre details, often evoking silent
avant garde horror cinema, and it's all accompanied by creepy sound design
that gets under your skin, while the story of decay and madness that's
rather reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe really comes to life amidst all
this, making this one (inbtentionally) disturbing, memorable horror ride.
