Billy (Tank Hurley) is a hulking big man with his heart in the right
place who loves his dauther Lily (Ciarra Harrell) beyond anything - but
who has never come over the death of his wife, and his grief has had him
starting drinking and subsequently falling in with the wrong crowd - and
eventually this has landed him in jail iver night for starting a bar room
brawl with Axel (Scott Lane). Lacey (Amy Jo Wagner) is working two jobs
back to back, one of them being taking care of Billy's family, and yet her
husband is never satisfied and beats her black and blue on occasion. Her
husband is of course Axel, and Billy only started above fight to protect
Lacey against him. Eventually, Axel makes the bad decision to break into
the house of Billy's family and threatening everybody at gunpoint - which
should be a wakeup call for everyone ... Above everything else,
A Great Brother is a very sweet film as it ducks spectacle yet
shows how there can be good/a hero found in everyone, under the right
circumstances. And a subtle directorial effort that doesn't try to drive
the message home sledgehammer style coupled with a solid cast playing
flawed yet relatable characters really help bring this point across,
making this one very pleasant entertainment.
