Young Hope (Moxie Owens) can't stand living with her stepmom (Dominique Swain) anymore, so she runs away, and to Hollywood, too, to become a model and actress. After all, her friend and sometimes lover Paige (Cody Renee Cameron) has promised to help her - and indeed, Paige and her friend Destiny (Serena Maffucci) are quick to set up a modelling shoot for her portfolio - only they forgot to tell her she had to take off her cloths for the shoot, something she does only after much persuasion and alcohol. And before Hope knows it, Paige and Destiny have made her an escort while still telling her this is good for her career. Hope eventually figures out they've turned her into a sex slave, and have even taken her cellphone, but she kind of gives into her fate as Paige and Destiny also give her good drugs.

Baby Girl (Psalms Salazar) is a stripper struggling to make ends meet and at least pay rent for her and her little daughter Angel's (Leah Schaefer) apartment. But when she's fired from the club she works at, she starts working as a streetwalker, trying to persuade herself it's all for her daughter's best but drinking more and more vodka to even handle the strain. That's when Paige and Destiny find her and take her on as one of their girls, and while Baby Girl at first thinks it's a step up, it doesn't take her long to figure otherwise. And it's when Paige and Destiny force her to do a gang bang porn movie that she calls it quits. However, her money soon runs out, and she's given an ultimatum to pay her rent otherwise she'll be evicted - so she agrees to do one more job for Paige and Destiny, and accompanies them and Hope to a club. She's streetwise enough to quickly notice that club is nothing but a set-up and somehow manages to escape. Hope isn't that lucky, and it's before long that Paige drugs her, something a bunch of guys in the club have only waited for ...

Now of course, in a way this movie follows the old country bumbkin gets exploited in the big city-cliché, but a nuanced approach to the story makes it feel very fresh, plus this narrative thread is rather nicely interwoven with the other main plot of the prostitute trying to get out of her vicious circle (much more elegant than in above synopsis, actually), while the direction avoids crass sensationalism and doesn't hammer its message home sledgehammer style but trusts the viewer to come to one's own conclusion. And add to that a very strong ensemble, and you've got a movie that's well worth a watch.
