Young Mallory (Alicia Underwood) is a bit on the devastated side when her parents drop her off at her grandma's (Allyn Carrell) place to go for a vacation to Hawaii, and her disappointment is only a little bit lessened when she finds her childhood friend Rodney (Justin Duncan) has moved back in next door. But then she finds out about a story concerning her long deceased grandfather (Earl Browning III) that corresponds with her Wiccan beliefs. Turns out granddad has once exorcised blues musician Eugene (Kenny Gardner), who has sold his soul to the devil for immortality. Plus, she finds Eugene's possessed guitar Astaroth and his last, believed missing, album which is said to kill or drive insane whoever listens to it. The whole thing gives Mallory severe nightmares though - and that's no coincidence even as she has recently performed a seance, to which Eugene, who's walled up on the premises, has somehow responded. And once Eugene is out of his tomb, all hell breaks loose, naturally ...

Of course, objectively speaking, Ghost Note doesn't make a hell lot of sense ... but it spins its yarn very well, populates it with fleshed-out likeable or at least relateable characters, sees to it that even the non-horror scenes are interesting enough to keep one watching, and the story flows along rather nicely, also helped by a subtle directorial effort and a competent cast.

In all, very enjoyable genre entertainment!
