Jeff (Nicholas Michael Jacobs) and his girlfriend have only recently
split up, so recently actually that he finds her stuff still scattered all
around the house - including a book, the Book of Souls, with a
cover that seems to be made out of a human face and seems to have traces
of pretty freshly spilled blood on it. Of course he immediately texts her
about this as he's a bit freaked out about it - but their relationship
gone up in smoke as it is, she doesn't immediately response, and curiosity
gets the better of Jeff. But sometimes things aren't meant to be read ... Over
the years, director Nicholas Michael Jacobs sure has turned the task of
re-inventing puppet horror with every new entry into the Genevieve
series into an artform, with basically telling the same story from so
radically different narrative angles that his films feel fresh every time
- as does this one that puts a Lovecraftian twist on things and thus
putting the puppet into a whole other context - to of course equally
gruesome results that ought to satisfy any horrorhound among the audience.
