It all starts like routine for two masked home invaders (Tom Lodewyck,
James Bett jr) - routine in their line of business of course -, they get
into a motel room, kill and mutilate a couple of girls, then get out again
... and that's where the trouble starts, as they don't get out soon enough
to not be caught by the maid. So of course they have to overpower the maid
and drive her to a nearby forest and kill her there - which takes longer
than anticipated, so their deed is witnessed by a jogger, whom they follow
home to kill. And then her husband returns home ... Given home
invasion movies are a dime a dozen of late, this one finds a really fresh
approach to the subject, by giving its protagonists a blue collar
attitude. Now it's never really revealed or even hinted at why they do
what they do, but much of their actions and dialogue suggest that what
they're doing is more the daily grind for them than any real source of
empowerment or something. And that, coupled with a very able directorial
effort and a solid cast, make this a rather cool little movie.
