Doug (Luke Y.Thompson) has had better days in his life: He has just
lost his job, and now he can't even tell his mom about it, he slowly comes
to the realization he's a complete pushover, and he has no idea how to
impress his neighbour Claudia (Elina Madison) he has the hots for. And
suddenly he attracts the attention of a local girlgang, the Ding Dong
Ditchers (Nicole Gormly, Tara Strand, Devanny Pinn, Dolce Death, Tara
Cardinal, Shannon Freyer, Julie Rose, Destiny Jasmine Rodreguiez, Julia
Boyd, Megan Frances, Vanessa Moreno), who terrorize the whole
neighbourhood by playing childish pranks on everyone, like throwing eggs
at people or hosing them down, but their speciality is ringing doors and
then running away. The reason that they never got caught of course is
thanks to careful planning by their leader D.D. Diva (Nicole Gormly), who
also sees to it that none of their pranks crosses the line into
illegality. A whole night, Doug is at the Ding Dong Ditchers' mercy,
then he is knocked out during a particularly mean prank, after which one
of the girls (Megan Frances) gets killed in an accident Doug (naturally)
hasn't got anything to do with. When he comes to though, the dead girl
inspires him, and he sets up all kinds of traps to kill the girls and
hunts the rest of them down armed with a gun and a machete, killing them
all, all but D.D. Diva, whom he captures, crucifies to two brooms, then
cuts off her fingers one by one, so she can never again ring his doorbell. Once
he's done though, somebody rings his doorbell, he pulls out his gun and
shoots ... now I don't want to give away the ending, but I'm pretty sure
you can guess whom he shoots and kills (hint, lives in his neighbourhood). Despite
the great title Ding Dong Dead, this is not one of director Creep
Creepersin's best movies, basically because on one hand it wastes too much
time with its story's set up, on the other because it doesn't go far
enough in its finale, it only hints at but never shows the violence
everything seems to have pointed to. That said though, Ding Dong Dead
is still lots of fun, the idea alone to have a gang of tough-as-nails
girls spending their time with nothing better than ringing doorbells and
egging and hosing down people is irresistible, as is the finale (at least
in concept, in execution not so much - see above). In all, not a perfect
film, but good entertainment nevertheless.
