Dante's (Dakota Ray) is a man as depraved as they come, having killed a
runaway girl two years back and cut her up following a ritual just to have
a servant in the afterlife. However, memories of this haunt him to this
day. Then he receives an invitation by an estranged friend of his,
Mahogany (Fred Epstein), to spend some time in Mahogany's summer house to
reminisce in their past together. Now Dante has to admit he's somewhat
impressed by Mahogany, who has killed his father to get his hands on the
old man's earthly possession, he keeps a slave (Sholeh Behesht) in the
bath tub just to torture her at will, and has his disabled grandmother
around just to be mean to her. However, this just inspires Dante to step
up his own game in terms of depravity. And what Dante doesn't know,
Mahogany has long put a spell on him, that probably doesn't work only
thanks to Dante's genuine depravity - and all of this, fueled by absinthe
and recreational drugs, is a recipe for utter disaster ... Now
this is certainly a film not for everyone, as true to his style, director
Dakota Ray paints a depraved and nihilistic picture without any likeable
protagonists and a very blunt approach to violence. But if exactly this
has sparked your interest, you're in for a fever dream of a movie, one
that goes as far into the surreal and the grotesque as its budget allows,
that's thus crowded with dead animals and severed animal heads, many of
which with the gift of speech, and that doesn't shy away from anything, no
matter how much it might alienate the audience, while things are kept in
monochrome with intentionally blown out whites to create the proper
other-worldly feeling. A nightmare of a movie - in the best possible way.
