Perceptions change with being under lockdown for three months, and with
writer/director/musician Andrew Buckner it's especially his perception
of/love for movies - and not for the better unfortunately, as with movie
theatres gone, seeing films on the big screen as well as the communal
experience of watching a movie are gone, both apparently a big thing for
Buckner, who does not only remember what movies he saw and when but also
who with, making each visit to the movie theatre a very unique experience
for him ... As documentaries go, this is a very intimate one,
as being told out of its central subject's perspective it tells about as
much about same subject - to a point where you might perceive the movie
less as an actual documentary and more a meditation on the subject. On a
visual level the film goes a route that supports its meditative feel, as
the imagery is (seemingly) disconnected from the narration, showing us
what appear to be a few still lives from (probably) Buckner's own garden,
thus freeing the mind to maybe fill it with one's personal observation on
Buckner's narration - and the outcome can be quite fascinating in its own
way ...
