Lois Lane (Phyllis Coates) checks into a hotel - only to be locked into
a room with the hotel's owner (Ann Doran) by two gangsters (Frank
Richards, John Kellogg) who want to take over the place. Somehow, she
manages to make a callto her newspaper, but she only reaches young Jimmy
Olsen (Jack Larson), who rushes to her rescue even though he is less than
equipped to save her on his own. For some reason, the gangsters mistake
him for the hitman their boss has sent them to off Lois and company and
even hand him a gun ... but then the real hitman, Baby Face (Richard
Benedict), arrives, and Jimmy finds himself ouotgunned.
Back at Lois' newspaper, Clark Kent/Superman (George Reeves)
desperately tries to find the note Jimmy has left him about Lois'
whereabouts, but when he is unable to find it and the newspaper's
secretary (Almira Sessions) only vaguely remembers the content, finding
Lois in time is a matter of guesswork .... and will Superman make it in
time ?
In case you wondered, of course he will.
Quite an exciting and entertaining episode that relies on suspense
rather than superheroics, and even if the ending is predictable (no way
will Lois and Jimmy be killed off), the whole thing actually works like a
charm.
