Diner owner Tony (Tito Vuolo) frequently brags to his guests about
being best pals with Superman (George Reeves), and when some racketeers
(Paul Burke, Terry Frost, Joseph Vitale) stop by to collect protecion
money, he even threatens to call his best pal. The racketeers however have
other ideas, and since they want to break into the Daily Planet building
right next to Tony's place to steal some evidence against them, they just
let it slip they have kidnapped Lois Lane (Noel Neill) to send Superman on
a wild goose chase - because you see, the Daily Planet is under special
protection by Superman. Their plan almost works, but Tony is smarter than
they think and he bugs their table to learn the kidnapping thing was
actually a fraud, and he manages to call Superman to his place just in
time to stop the baddies. It all ends in a big pie fight (really) by the
way.
Naive and silly, yes, but also charmingly campy and pretty funny
(especially when it doesn't intend to be). Not great of course, and not
even one of the better episodes of the series, but amusing nevertheless.
