Jimmy Olsen (Jack Larson) pays a visit to his aunt Louise (Sarah
Padden), who lives on an otherwise deserted island - only to find the
woman a tad strange and her son Chris (Jimmy Ogg) actually pretty rude.
The only person he can somehow relate to is Alice (Allene Roberts) the
maid, but she's unfortunately mute. What's more, while on the island, he
is not really allowed to go anywhere, especially not to the abandoned
lighthouse that still lights up every now and again. As all of this seems
a tad fishy to young Jimmy, so he calls in reinforcements in the person of
Clark Kent (George Reeves), who of course unbeknowest to everybody is also
Superman, and Kent soon finds proof that aunt Louise isn't aunt Louise at
all and the abandoned lighthouse is indeed used for a smuggling operation
run by the fake aunt Louise and Chris, who isn't really Jimmy's cousin at
all.
Good thing Superman is on hand to produce the real aunt Louise (Effie
Laird) to keep the villains from hightailing it at gunpoint while he
fetches the coastguard.
A rather predictable tale (come on, if a lighthouse is haunted it's always
smugglers) told in a not all that exciting way ... but at least it puts
its emphasis on Clark Kent rather than Superman to remain moderately
interesting, and George Reeves' acting is at least decent.
