Sir Richard finds himself in debt when he loses in a tournament and the
winners, Sir Blaise (John Dearth) and Sir Miles (Charles Stapley) demand
prizemoney. Problem is, Sir Richard has no money and his only asset is his
son Claude (Philip Guard), whom he has to marry off for a large dowry ...
and the only man willing to pay a large dowry is the merchant Hugh
(Charles Lloyd Pack) - but he wants a tough knight for his daughter Gladys
(Jennifer Jayne), and Claude is more interested in music than in fighting.
And since Sir Richard does not have any knight friends to vouch for
his son, he asks Robin Hood (Richard Greene) and his merry men to pose as
knights for him when Hugh the merchant comes by to fix the marriage.
Unfortunately, during the merchant's visit everything seems to go
wrong: First Claude proves himself to be a great flute player instead of a
great fighter, then Robin (or rather the knight Robin imersonates) catches
the attention of Hugh the merchant, and he decides to marry his daughter
off to him instead of Claude ... and then Sir Blaise and Sir Miles happen
to stop by top collect their prizemoney ...
Somehow though, Robin fixes everything with Miles and Blaise, and
Gladys turns out to be much more interested in a musician than a wayfaring
knight anyways ...
Of course, this episode is rather childish - after all this program was
aimed primarily at six-to-ten-year-olds -, however, if you can accept
this, it's pretty humourous as well.
