Rick Davis (Michael Rock), host of Textraterrestrial, relates a
story about the lights over Montgomery County, Texas, lights that appear
over the area every 18 months, and that might be of extraterrestrial
origin - and stories of alien abductions and disappearances around the
dates of the occurences of the lights might suggest just as much. The
heart of the show though is the stor of Clayton Thomas (Dustin Tamplen)
and family (Braydon Tamplen, Austin Tamplen) who got themselves a
childlike AI-android (Dylan Tamplen) to do chores around the house - that
just goes weird every time the Montgomery lights show up, and dangerously
so ...
Now I'll admit, the vintage TV show look of this film is a bit
unnecessarily irritating, but in terms of content, this movie most
certainly has the format down to a T, so much so that one almost feels
like in an actual UFO show watching this. And the centerpiece of the film,
the story about the Thomas family, despite some overly shaky and not very
cinematic camerawork, sure has a properly unsettling quality to it. In
all, rather cool genre entertainment for sure.
