Little Billy (Lucas Sequeira) finds it unfair that he's sent to bed
early by his Grandma (Eileen Dietz) when his sister Sara's (Emily Palumbo)
allowed to stay up and help granny make cookies - and it's understandable
that he's disappointed even as he's young and impressionable, it's
Christmas Eve, and he's just dying to meet Santa Claus (Bryan Forrest).
But granny has every reason to try to prevent him from seeing Santa, as
she has once seen him herself and only got out of being moved to the
naughty list by striking a deal, a deal that involves cookies - and maybe
something more sinister ... Now this is pretty much your
anti-Christmas movie, a film that playfully picks up all sorts of seasonal
mainstays - and then throws them into the meatgrinder. And what really
makes this work is that director Michael Coulombe really understands to
create a Christmassy atmosphere and lets the horror seep through only by
the by - and horror veteran Eileen Dietz just finds the perfect balance
between being sweet and menacing to make her role really work, while her
kid co-stars remain relatable throughout, to make this a rather wonderful
piece of seasonal horror.
