Uncle Fester (Jackie Coogan) longs for having a relationship, so much
so that he puts up an ad in the local newspaper's classifieds - and then
despairs when no reply's coming his way right away. Enter Miss Carver
(Merry Anders), a cosmetics door-to-door saleswoman, whom Fester mistakes
for his bride-to-be - and he doesn't like her prim-and-proper looks from
the get-go while Morticia (Carolyn Jones) and Gomez Addams (John Astin)
mistake her for a golddigger. But even without their combined efforts to
get rid of her, Miss Carver gets the fright of her life in the Addams
mansion and ultimately makes a hasty escape, never to come back again ... Now
this is not an episode that convinces with narrative finesse, as it really
is more of a series of sight gags and loosely connected situational comedy
rather than a thought-through plot - but it does have its funny bits, and
one certainly can't dismiss the chemistry between the cast when watching
this one, so without ever achieving greatness (even within the series),
this just is an amusing watch for sure.
