Construction workers Kozo (Renji Ishibashi) and Takeo (Kai Ato) gangrape their boss's daughter Kazuko (Ako) over frustration about their job. As a result, Kazuko falls in love with Takeo, mainly because he was the first one to get a go at her and thus took her virginity. On his way home, Kozo picks up a hitchhiker, the woman with red hair (Junko Miyashita), a woman who's especially horny during her period. Soon enough, she has moved in with him and the two embark on a relationship mainly based on sex. She won't tell him her name and claims she is runing away from her abusive husband and/or her boring family life, but he can't help but suspect something else, which drives him crazy with jealousy on one hand, but only brings the two yet closer on the other.

Takeo meanwhile learns that Kazuko is pregnant, and while she claims it is, it has to be his baby, Takeo is not so sure - after all, both he and Kozo have raped her, right? Takeo still agrees to elope with her, but before that he demands that Kozo give him permission to rape the woman with red hair ... out of fairness it seems. Kozo agrees to this, even though that event has him eaten up by jealousy even more - but in the end, this brings him and the woman even closer together ...

An interesting and haunting look at abusive relationships in which the tables are usually turned on the abusers who find themselves far more dependent from their victims than the other way round. This all though is not brought to the screen as a big thesis movie but very subtle via an erotic drama/comedy that even brings a certain elegance to the screen despite its working class enviroment, and is thus somehow related to Italian neorealismo and in other instances French Nouvelle Vague.

This all is not to say the film is perfect, as it does have its deficiencies especially on a narrrative level, bt it's at least worth a look ...
