Somewhere in the desert of Central Asia, the Science Patrol runs across
an ancient hidden civilisation, the city of which can only be seen
sometimes and is usually mistagen for a mirage. But the city is real, and
even more real is the threat it faces presently, Antlar, a giant
insect-like monster that seems to be indestructible. However, the high
priestess of Baraj shows them a statue in their temple that should hold
the answer to Antlars threat: A statue of Ultraman holding a blue stone.
Good thing then that Hayata (Susumu Kurobe) of the Science Patrol is
secretly giant robot Ultraman (Bin Furuya), and he soon picks up the fight
against Antlar - but it seems this time he has met his match, as Antlar's
powers seem limitless ... until the high priestess finds out what the
statue really means, picks the blue stone from it, hurls it at Antlar and
destroys it - and once more the world is saved ... Hidden
civilisation stories are almost invariably a sourcefor high camp, and this
episode of Ultraman does not disappoint on that account, and
the obviously low budget and inclusion of giant robots and monsters only
make this more enjoyable in a campy way. Great fun!
