A crab-like alien that is able to multiply in battle situations and to
put humans into suspended animation has taken over one of Japan's most
important science buildings, so much so that the ministry of defense plans
to bomb the building using some super weapon, while the Science Patrol
wants to negotiate first to see what the alien's demands are in the first
place. But when Hayata (Susumu Kurobe) talks to the alien, he has to find
out that it is looking for a new place for its race to live, a race that
would outpopulate earth's population. The alien is rather pompous in
everything it says, but evasive to the question why its race doesn't
populate Mars instead - and Science Patrol soon finds out why: Because
Mars's atmosphere contains Specium, which isn't found on earth and to
which the aliens are obviously allergic. Good thing then that Hayata is
secretly giant robot Ultraman, and that Ultraman shoots Specium rays from
its eyes. But to make this a one-to-one battle, the alien has to first
grow to giant size as well and destroy a few buildings. Then though,
Ultraman defeats and kills it with a combination of robot-monster
wrestling and Specium rays, after which he also destroys the alien's
(invisible) spaceship containing its entire race ... and the earth is
saved once more. Silly, and full of less than perfect effects
featuring men in rubbersuits and miniature sets - and great for exactly
the same reason.
