Professor Iwamoto discovers a 7,000 year old mummy (which looks
remarkably like an apeman) in some caves and has them brought to his
science lab. But just like just about every other mummy of movieland, this
one will not stay dead for long, and soon, the guards of the lab are
killed, the mummy escapes and runs amok. Science Patrol is called in to
handle the situation, and though they are determined to catch the mummy
alive for its scientific value, they ultimately have to shoot it. End of
story? Nope, because as soon as the mummy is dead, a giant dragon
emerges from the caves the mummy was hidden in, and wreaks havoc on the
neighbourhood. Good thing then that Hayata (Susumu Kurobe), a member of
Science Patrol, is secretly giant robot Ultraman (Bin Furuya), and as the
giant metal guy, he has no problems handling the dragon. Like
most episodes of Ultraman, this one's campy and hokey fun,
and both the ape-like mummy and the dragon are almost loveable creatures -
though probably unintentionally so.
