Isaac's (Bennett Kirschner) life is hell of late: He's stuck in reform
school, he has become the main target of the school's lead bully Greg (Max
Carpenter), and the headmaster (Timothy J. Cox), even though he runs
anti-bullying classes, fails to see the problem and help Isaac in any way
- quite the contrary, he tells Isaac he thinks very little of him. And
furthermore, he seems to have the hots for the school nurse (Chelsea
Marino), the only person at school who has ever shown Isaac something
resembling sympathy. Isaac attempts to face his fears and thus confront
Greg, but that leads to serious bruises, and an attempt to escape was
doomed to fail from the start. So at the school dance he makes a desparate
attempt to change it all by challenging Greg ... Trouble
is an enjoyably engaging little movie that doesn't hit one over the head
with a sledgehammer to bring its message across but uses a nuanced
cinematic language to get the audience to symathize, with cleverly used
music often counterpointing the on-screen goings-on. And of course a
talented cast also helps making this one into a pretty good short.
