Pornstar Bree Olson has the great idea to manage an all-girl
all-pornstar rockband, titular Tight, and thus brings together Monica Mayhem (vocals),
Layla Labelle (guitar), Tuesday Cross (bass) and Alicia Andrews (drums) -
but the idea is flawed right from the get-go, as apart from their
profession and their, well, willingness to be in a rock band, these four
girls have little in common, and frankly they just don't gel. Also, the
girls are of varying talents, and it's especially the two most talented
girls (Monica and Layla) who clash the most. Add to that a
"manager" - Bree Olson's cousin Joel Chanin - who's not really
cut out for the job and at times simply freaks out the girls, and a tour
that runs out of funds halfway through and prompts the girls to do
pornshoots to pay for their travel costs and you are left with ... utter
chaos, catfights, and the idea of an all-girl all-pornstar rockband
dissolving somewhere in mid air ... Amid all the reality shows
on television it's easy to dismiss Tight as just another attempt to
jump onto the bandwagon, and maybe it is - but Tight is also quite
simply fun, as it actually has a narrative structure to it, the girls have
character and feel more authentic than usual (even though at least some
scenes seem clearly staged), and despite the profession of the girls and
plenty of topless nudity, whatever the girls do doesn't seem half as
sleazy (or even pornographic) as most of the stuff you see on the
Kardashians or Jersey Shore. Plus, the girls are of course
very easy on the eye ... and as for the music - it's not bad, middle of
the road alternative rock with definite room for improvement - but again,
beats the "music" Kim Kardashian has been making by a lightyear
or two. In all, fun to watch, actually.
