Over the years, Tamburlaine (Kevin Little), once a Scythian shepherd,
has become a powerful warlord with ambitions to rule the world. But in his
way stands Bajazeth (Vince Edgehill), emperor of the Turks, and his empire
is the key to the continent of Africa. Bajazeth though looks down on
Tamburlaine, first and foremost because of his modest upbringing - but
Tamburlaine insists on fighting it out on the battlefield, where his army
is more than Bajazeth's equal ...
Now of course, it didn't really need proof that the plays of a
writer of Christopher Marlowe's format still work just as nicely today as
they did in the 1500s - but this short, picking our one key sequence of
Marlowe's play to tease a webseries, does a remarkable job giving the
thing an up-to-date look reminiscent of many a currently popular
historical/fantasy TV series, with an emphasis on action, yet not losing
any of the play's drama. And thanks also to a very solid cast, this has
become a very entertaining little film that leaves one hungry for more.
