A politician who is blackmailed turns to Sherlock Holmes (Ronald Howard) for help, and Holmes soon figures it all has to do with Jeremy Oliver's (Duncan Elliott) marriage agency - so he and Watson (Howard Marion Crawford) go undercover and pose as wealthy bachelors to see what the agency is all about ... and before you know it, Holmes gets tricked into starting a fistfight and is thrown into jail as part of an elaborate blackmail scheme. Holmes counts on his friend inspector Lestrade (Archie Duncan) to get him out of jail, but unfortunately this is not Lestrade's case but inspector Mason's (Seymour Green), who has no interest in releasing Holmes - and so it's up to Watson and Lestrade to break into Oliver's office and gather evidence, but unfortunately they are caught by Oliver and his men and tied up. Fortunately though Holmes does manage Mason to investigate Oliver's company after all, providing Mason with a moment of triumph when he finds Lestrade all tied up, but also enabling him to get all the necessary evidence to arrest Oliver. Still, in this episode Lestrade has the last laugh when he visits Holmes in his prison cell - and tells him he can't release him because it's simply not his case ...

A not really cleverly written episode - all the clues are presented way too obvious here and it makes one wonder why the characters don't get them any sooner - this one is nevertheless mildly amusing, if only for the scenes when Holmes and Watson court two ladies from the marriage agency and Lestrade ridiculing Holmes in prison ...
