Visiting Tall Kau's (Chik King-Man) brothel for the first time, scholar
Chu Chi Ang (Timothy Zao) promptly fallsin love with Susan (Chung Chun),
one of the brothel's new girls and thus still a virgin. And since Chu Chi
Ang is her first customer, Susan falls in love with him as well ...
Soon enough, Chu Chi Ang forgets all about his studies and spends his
entire money on (paying to have sex with) Susan ... and before you know
it, he owes the brothel a great deal of money, and Tall Kau has him chased
away.
Problem is, now Susan doesn't want to be with another man, so Tall Kau
has her tortured for quite a bit. Then he sells her off to rich
businessman Sir Lui (Elvis Tsui), who is at least gentleman enough to
promise to not touch Susan unless she asks him to ... but of course, soon
enough he does what all men would do in such a situation, he gets her so
drunk that she does beg him to have sex with her ...
In fact, Sir Lui becomes totally infatuated by her that he at one point
even asks her, his concubine, to become his wife ... much to the dismay of
Fanny (Tung Yi), Sir Lui's other concubine and a former colleague of Susan
in the brothel, who soon enough makes plans to have her lover, accountant
Suen (Ricky
Yi Faan Wai), poison Sir Lui and put the blame on Susan ... and
wouldn't you know it, it works out, too, thanks also to a corrupt judge
...
One day though, Chu Chi Ang shows up at Sir Lui's place that is now run
by Fanny and Suen, and asks for Susan, and after he learns she is a
convicted murderess, he, totally impoverished, asks at least for a bit of
money. Suen chases him away, but Fanny recognizes him again, and since she
has always fancied him, she seduces him and then persuades him to poison
Suen for him. Chu Chi Ang gives in to all of this all too easily ... and
eventually he is revealed to be a judge from the high court, who has
re-opened the Lui-murder case because Chinyun (Yeung Ka-Lin), Susan's
friend and fellow prostitute, asked for his help ... and Suen, thinkinjg
he has been poisoned by Chu Chi Ang, confesses everything ... only to
learn that the whole poisoning stunt was just a trick to make him talk ...
Soon enough, Fanny is tortured to death while Suen, since he has made a
confession, is sentenced to life in prison. Susan though does not return
to her one true love Chu Chi Ang but has decided to become a nun ...
The third entry into the Sex and Zen series has precious
little to do with the previous two films ... and in fact there isn't all
that much Zen in it at all. Gone are all the crazy and fantastic
sex-devices of the previous films, gone are in fact all fantasy elements,
giving way to a reather tired erotic murder mystery in period sets and
costumes (even if there is no need for this film to be a period piece).
It might not be an all-bad film, but there is actually very little to
recommend this film ...
