Martians - men and women with long white hair, silver boots, belts and
capes and ridiculous helmets - come to earth - Mexico that is - to
threaten it's annihilation should it not give up war altogether and start
living in peace. Naturally these earthlings will do nothing of the sort,
so the Martians spread terror using their disintegrator ray. But there's
one man who stands between the Martians and the destruction of earth ...
the masked wrestler Santo of course, who wrestles down the Martians every
time he meets them.
And what do our Martians do ? Use their disintegrator ray on the
wrestler to get rid of him once and for all ?
Nope, they decide that they must capture Santo and his brilliant
scientist friend Professor Ordorica (Manuel Zozaya), who has an answer to
everything, alive and take them back to Mars.
But no matter what the Martians try, be it to face him in the wrestling
arena or be it by sending him two beautiful female Martians who try to
hypnotize him, Santo always escapes their traps and finds out more and
more about their weapons ...
Still, the Martians are quite successful in abducting other people -
including eventually Professor Ordorica - and soon not only have quite a
collection of specimens, but they also have struck fear into the Mexicans,
and soon nobody dares going out anymore ... nobody but Santo thta is, who
lures the Martians into the wrestling arena for a final bout - where he
steals their breathing pills and one of their teleporter belts, and soon
enough he has entered their UFO, freed all the humans and blown up the
UFO.
And with that threat gone, the earthlings can once again wage all the
war they want ... hey wait a minute !
Two things up front: Santo films are always a bit silly
(but often in a good way), and alien invasion flicks are also a bit silly
most of the time (but silly in a good way as well'), so when Santo battles
an alien invasion, it's hardly surprising that this is not a film to take
too seriously ...
Still, if you like Mexican wrestling pictures and silly sci fi, you
might find this one quite amusing (despite an over-reliance on wrestling
that is not imminent in all Santo movies), and if you
haven't forgotten how to laugh, you will be entertained.
Best seen with a few beers and a few mates.
