Don (William Ching) meets Nancy (Lola Albright), a good-looking blonde,
at a bar, and immediately falls for her. She seems to like him as well,
and in no time has invited him to her father's (Pierre Watkin) place by
the lake, where Don spends all his weekends from now on. But how can a man
like Nancy's father afford such a beautiful place? Why, by betting on
horses of course, daddy has a system working on a mathematical formula
that almost never fails. Of course, this system is only a set-up, and only
works because dad only listens to pre-recorded transmissions of the races,
where it's easy to pick the winner. But Don, who doesn't know about the
pre-recorded transmissions, is impressed, and he gives dad a heap of money
for the system. After dad has collected the dough, he and Nancy are
gone, and when losing at the racetrack, Don knows he has been taken for a
sucker - and turns to Captain Braddock (Reed Hadley) of the Racket Squad,
who promises support. Eventually, Don tracks Nancy and her father down
again, and when he claims he hasn't even tried the system yet, they
figure they can get even more money out of him - but when they think they
have succeeded, Captain Braddock and his boys step in to arrest the
guilty. Oh boy, what a silly story! A woman seducing a man to
sell him a system to always win betting on horses - really? This system
is a mathematical formula ... at horseracing - did anybody ever believe
this? I could go on for a bit, but you see what I mean, this episode has
so many leaps of reason in it it's almost funny - but only almost. In fact
of course, this episode is rather pathetic, even considering that Racket
Squad as a whole is not a very good series to begin with.
