Princess Mariam (Ajita Wilson), an ex nude model and current wife of a
violent African dictator, comes to Italy to close a building deal worth
millions - and in the process she turns every head in the country,
including that of her American advisor Gladys (Tina Aumont). There is a
journalist on her trail, Marco, but he isn't half as interested in getting
a good story as he is in getting naked pictures of her. Gladys meets
Linda, a woman from her country, who invites her to a voodoo ritual that
makes Mariam remember how she became the dictator's wife - by castrating
her own boyfriend -, and from now on, Mariam wants to kill the dictator. Eventually,
Mariam is gangraped by a group of bikers, but that remains without
consequence. Gladys is frustrated that Mariam doesn't respond to her
advances, so she hops into bed with Marco. She still helps Mariam close
her deal, but then she gets Marco some photos of an orgy Mariam
participates in. Mariam is waiting for her flight to take her back home
at the airport when she meets Marco again, who hands her over the
negatives of the photos Gladys has taken of the orgy. Thing is, Marco
wanted to get a story, but he knows if this get out, Mariam will be
executed once back home, and he just doesn't want to have that on his
conscience. Out of gratitude, Mariam drags him to the next toilet to have
sex with him. In the end, a title card informs us that Mariam's dictator
was overthrown shortly after her return, and she has become a candidate
for presidency ... A totally confused and confusing movie:
While the beginning suggests an action flick, the whole thing soon becomes
a blend between political and erotic drama .. but the longer the film
lasts, the less sense it makes, as clichés and subplots are picked up and
dropped rather at random, and the film's finale itself seems to be more
caused by the fact that it is already 90 minutes long than by narrative
necessity. Still, there's something appealing, almost hypnotic to The
Nude Princess, the many sudden outbreaks of sleaze randomly
interrupting its pseudo-serious plot, in a way that the film makes even
less sense than it would do if it stuck to its basic confusing narrative. In
all, quite simply a bad flim, but fun to watch in a slightly sleazy sort
of way.
