Because he wants a heir and his wife doesn't want to get pregnant,
influential politician Lord
Katsuragawa (Hideaki Esumi) impregnates Shino (Hitomi Kozue), the
girlfriend of his bodyguard Todo.Shino gives birth to twins, and while
Lord Katsuragawa keeps the male child as his heir, he orders Todo to kill
both Shino and her daughter - which Todo can't, so he helps Shino and the
girl to escape, but Shino swears to hate Todo forever. 19 years later:
Todo has spent all these years trying to track Shino down to ask for her
forgiveness, but when he finally finds her, Shino is on her death bed and
dies without exchanging even a single word with him. Todo wants to atone
for his wrongdoings and take care of Shino's daughter Kyoko, her splitting
image (and thus also played by Hitomi Kozue), but she turns him down, and
becomes a prostitute at a whorehouse rather than living with the man her
mother has taught her to hate. Todo buys her out, but can't help raping
her as soon as the deal is done with the whorehouse owner. Kyoko escapes
with a young student whom she has fallen in love with while still working
as a prostitute, but then she learns the student is actually Lord
Katsuragawa's son and her own twin brother ... Todo has finally come to
terms witht he fact that Kyoko doesn't want to have anything to do with
him, so to get redemption, he plans to kill Lord Katsuragawa, but is
killed himself trying. When Kyoko learns that, she breaks down in tears
and sets out to finish what Todo has begun - and successfully so. Stylishly
done erotic feature (or Roman Porn, as the Japanese call it) that
offsets its rather conventional if complex thriller plot with quite a few
weird and surreal touches and that presents a perfect mix of sex and gore
to keep audiences entertained while the film doesn't just reduce its plot
to violence and nudity. A very nice yet anything but conventional film.
