Amanda (Deneen Melody) thought she had problems because her daughter
Aubry's (Taylor Metzger) only friend is an imaginary one called Lewis, and
because she has caught her husband (Marv Blauvelt) cheating on her. So she
asked father Lennox (Jerry Murdock) for advice and he suggested a trip to
the countryside ... Not a good idea, as it now turns out, because
Kronaburgh, the place the father suggested Amanda to go, is the place
where she once lived with her mum (Phyllis Munro) and dad (Jason Hignite)
- but then something happened to mum and dad, and to this day Amanda
cannot remember what, only that whatever it was orphaned her and is giving
her bad dreams to this very day. And then there's the fact that the people
of Kronaburgh like nothing better than to make love like the bunny
rabbits, with the only difference that in their lovemaking, blood is
always involved. If there's a city driven by that kind of a sex drive, one
wonders, why aren't there any children? Father Lennox and sister Louise
(Susan Adriensen) take care of Amanda and Aubry in Kronaburgh, but it soon
becomes apparent they have their own (probably sinister) motives for doing
so. And then Aubrey is gone ...

What
a weird movie - but weird in the best possible way. Somehow based on
Satanic cult-movies from the 1970's, the plot of Lewis
is positively bizarre, yet the film manages to stick to its own
nightmarish logic thoughout, which is complimented by a directorial effort
high on atmosphere (the sun-drowned yet creepy outdoors scenes in
Kronabergh are especially memorable), and a competent ensemble cast
certainly doesn't hurt either. Totally recommended!
