A meteor that has crashed down on earth after not being blown up by a barrage of nuclear missiles actually turns out to be a spaceship, a spaceship that has sent a giant robot to earth to syphon off all of earth's energy. Scientist Leslie Gaskell (Jeff Morrow), his sidekick Arnold Culver (George O'Hanlon) and his girlfriend/assistant Vera (Barbara Lawrence) try to figure out what to do, but their efforts are seriously hampered by their superior, Doctor Elliott (John Emery), who has been taken over by the aliens controlling the robot, which of course nobody is yet aware of. It's only when Doc Elliott is released from the aliens' grip that he can give vital information to Gaskell and company, who then proceed to overfeed the giant robot with energy so it ultimately blows up.

In writing, this film sounds much more interesting than it is on screen: The giant robot unfortunately is not nearly as impressive as it's supposed to be, the film haas got too slow of a start and build-up to really impress, and the whole thing seems to be permanently alternating between pseudo-scientific talk and robot action without ever bringing the two together. Sure, it's not a total failure if 1950's science fiction is your cup of tea, but the premise would have deserved a better treatment.
