More than usual, Japan is plagued by earthquake these days, so much so
that one might suspect foul play - and that's exactly what it is, as evil
organisation Shocker plans to destabilize the country this way, planning a
major earthquake soon. Seismologist Chikako (Ryoku Mizukami) learns about
this and calls her childhood friend Takeshi - but is kidnapped by Mantis
Man (Mahito Tsujimura) mid-call. Takeshi races to the rescue, but of
course walks into an ambush and is pushed into a well and a time bomb is
thrown in after him to take care of him for good. But when the bomb goes
off it only triggers Takeshi's cyborg powers and turns him into Kamen
Rider. As him, Takeshi frees Chikako - but of course, Chikako is under
Shocker's hypnotic spell, and thus actually aides her own recapture. But
naturally, Takeshi/Kamen Rider saves the day in the end.
It's basically a business as usual episode, and that Takeshi's
cyborg powers always kick in at exactly the right time (e.g. when the bomb
goes off in the well) is actually a bit jarring as it takes the sting out
of life-and-death situations. That said of course, one mustn't take a
series like that seriously, and seen as pure nostalgia it's of course
quite some fun.
