An African country is overrun by a virus that zombifies its populace,
which catapults a local warlord (Leon Mayfield) into power and thus also
gives him control over the country's nuclear arsenal. Of course, the US is
concerned about that, but fortunately, the president (Heath C. Heine) has
an idea: To order untested weaponry from Russia to take care of the
situation. Sounds like a bad idea, but it gets even worse when this
weaponry turns out to be dinosaurs equipped with guns. Now of course, the
dinosaurs are remote controlled - that is, until they catch the virus, and
that nixes out the control mechanism, and suddenly dinosaurs armed to the
teeth are on a rampage through the country, and if they somehow get their
paws on the nuclear arsenal, it might lead to an even bigger disaster. So
the US sends in a SWAT team - but with all blunders so far, who's to say
that the SWAT team isn't only accelerating the run to utter disaster? Now
there's a good chance you'll ask yourself "what the fuck?" after
reading above, and objectively one can't blame you. That said though, in Jurassic
Thunder the totally far-fetched, comic booky plot really works in the
film's favour as it doesn't just try to shove another wild concept down
your throat but pays loving hommage to trash science fiction and
comicbooks, and really milks its contrived premise for comedy value while
adding tons of political satire to the mix. So there's not just plenty of
dino action in this movie, some actually really well conceived, there's
also penty to laugh about, and some content that, if you remove the
comedic layer, actually gets you thinking. Most of all though, the film's
lots of fun, and way better than a film with dinos with guns is supposed
to be.
