A white haired woman lifes in a house covered with her paper flowers,
the moon, and her three animals, the wolf songstress, the cat who's also
an empath, and Baby, the little cat who loves to go exploring, but who
always sleeps on her chest at night. They all live together peacefully and
in unity with nature. Things couldn't be better - until one night a coyote
stops by the house to take Baby. For a week, the woman, the wolf and the
empath go looking for Baby, without any success whatsoever - and then the
coyote returns. Enraged as she is, the woman threatens the beast with a
knife - but doesn't that mean betraying everything she stands for? In
the House of Paper Flowers is at its heart just a charming fairy tale
for all ages, and one with a positive message - that's worked towards
though rather than driven home via sledgehammer. And stylistically, the
limited animation works well with the hyper-stylized characters and
scenery and the limited colour scale that seems to allow only black,
white, and shades of grey and red - which sure gives the movie it's very
unique atmosphere, an atmosphere bound to draw one in and come out on the
other end rather charmed and satisfied.
